Kismet’s adult martial arts program is designed to help students lose weight, while building strength, flexibility and creating a more toned body.

Class Descriptions

Cardio Kickboxing

This class combines a high-impact aerobic workouts with strength training in an exciting and energetic environment. Immerse yourself in a total body workout that's guaranteed to be a great time! Kickboxing movements target difficult areas and tone and shape your mid-section, while maintaining a heart rate of over 140 beats per minute during intervals throughout the hour. Just follow our certified instructor, Brad Thibodeau, through a series of exciting exercises while you get lost in the workout. The American Council on Exercise (ACE), which evaluates exercise products and programs, notes that during a one-hour kickboxing workout, you can burn between 500 and 800 calories, which is up to twice the calories you burn during a one-hour step-aerobics class. Have a blast while you burn fat, tone and release tension. Gloves are required for this class - available for purchase at Kismet.

Full Body Conditioning

Do you want increased coordination and balance? Wish you were more flexible? Need improved muscle tone or want to lose weight? Full Body Conditioning is a unique class where plyometric and isometric training and strength conditioning are combined to help eliminate the post-workout fatigue by increasing your body's ability to store energy. Combine speed and endurance training to build a leaner, faster, stronger and lighter version of you. This class is a great complement to Cardio Kickboxing.

All levels welcome...no prior martial arts experienced required.

Adult Karate-Do

This class dispels the myth that Karate is just for kids! The "Do" at the end of Karate represents a healthy way of living through the exercises learned in training. Karate training improves stamina, increases concentration and builds self confidence and awareness. It gets more difficult to keep our bodies healthy as we get older, and "half soft/half hard" martial arts like those taught here at Kismet allow us to maintain our strength and elasticity well into our older years. Sensei Brad Thibodeau leads adults through workouts aimed at achieving your health goals and learning a proven method of self defense! Augment your current exercise routine with traditional Karate-Do training and get an education in a martial art you can practice well into the later years in life.

Freestyle Combat Defense

This class includes MMA- (Mixed Martial Arts) infused workouts for the very best in street and real life defense. Freestyle classes at Kismet give you the opportunity to train for real life situations. Students prepare through situational drills aimed at creating a sense of "aliveness" in the training hall. Boxing, striking, takedowns and grappling are all presented here to prepare your body and mind for life's worst-case scenarios. Mouth and groin protection is a must, and sparring gear is needed in most classes. There are no belts or uniforms - participants wear comfortable clothes and learn together in a non-judgmental environment.
